Mrs. Lesli
Dance

Currently employed at varying studios, Mrs. Lesli teaches all genres of dance including her specialty of modern dancing. Mrs.
Lesli also is an instructor for NC Dance Theatre in Charlotte NC in the public school system.


Lesli has been awarded top teacher and choreography awards for her work with the SFAC team.

Formerly performing with Mobile Ballet in Alabama and the Joe Jefferson Players. Lesli has been awarded many scholarships
as well as having studied at Joffrey Ballet, Martha Graham Studio, Steps, and the Broadway Dance Center. After graduating from
Leflore High School of Communications and Arts she moved to Chicago, IL to pursue a performing career in dance. While in
Chicago, she performed with and was awarded scholarships to Gus Giorodano Jazz Dance Chicago, Joseph Holmes Chicago
Dance Theatre and the Of Light and Temptation Project. Lesli also had the opportunity to teach and choreograph for local
Chicago schools.  1995 Co-Artistic Director of The Dance Center and a founding member of the Alabama Contemporary  Dance
Theatre where Mrs. Lesli taught and choreographed there as well as the Children's Musical Theater, and Culture in Black and
White.  1999 Winter Dance Festival at NC School of the Arts.  Former Certified Ballroom instructor for Fred Astaire.  Former
company member with Moving Poets in Charlotte NC.  Mrs. Lesli has a long list of former students who have gone on to utilize
their dance education professionally, from Hairspray on Broadway, NC School of the Arts and performing scholarships.  Her
natural athleticism presented an opportunity for her quickly gain accolades in the Disc Golf community holding the titles of 1998
World Championships,  Rookie of the Year, 2000 & 2001 Women's National Championship and Player of the  Year.
Mrs. Christy
Secretary
Certified Baton Twirling Coach

Mrs. Christy is Sports and Fine Arts Center's secretary,  She is in the office Monday and Friday.  Phone messages are checked daily from her home
office.


She has been the Baton instructor since 2004.   Former students have achieved Collegiate Twirling Team and United States Twirling Association
regional title holder.  Mrs. Christy founded the Porter Ridge High School majorette program, instructing/coaching Union County's only Majorette in a
marching band with 1 baton, 2 batons, fire and knives!

Currently she is directing SFAC's first competition twirling team that will participate in Drum Majors of America competitions locally.

Mrs. Christy was feature twirler at Wingate University, and a Majorette at East Meck High School for 3 years.  Mrs. Christy has twirled and competed with
Drum Majorettes of America and is a certified coach with United States Twirling Association.
Mrs. Maresa
Owner/Director
Gymnastics/Dance Instructor


Mrs. Maresa was the gymnastics director (1986-2001) for a top ranked team. Former member  NC Dance Alliance, Dance Masters, US Trampoline
and Tumbling, USA Gymnastics.

Dance Central, CPCC student in Modern and Ballet.

1990 Conover YMCA gymnastics instructor.

Mrs. Maresa was chosen as one of only two sophomores on Varsity Cheer Squad for her high school where she choreographed dance routines and
stunting for the squads.  She was the only advanced tumbler on the team.

Dance and acrobatic training began at age 8 in Sanford NC.  

Her main objective is the provide a high quality of dance education at an affordable price.
Miss Kim
Dance

Miss Kim holds a Dance Minor from UNC-Charlotte and is a former member of the Gold Duster Collegiate Dance Team at UNCC.

Miss Kim currently works with Showstopper American Dance Championship and is a former employee for Universal Cheerleading
Association.  
Mr. Mike

Mr. Mike, who happily admits to be Mrs. Maresa's better half, has been a Gymnastics instructor 6 years.  

He sports a Blue Belt in Chun Kuk Do.  Mr. Mike also serves as co-manager at competitions.

When he's not busy with SFAC, he is a Systems Analyst for BCBS of NC.

Miss Taylor:  Current SFAC competition dance team member, former SFAC East Coast Allstar competitive cheerleader and current High School Varsity Cheerleader.  13 years
professional dance training.

Miss Anna:  Current SFAC competition team member with 7 years professional dance and advanced gymnastics training.  

Miss Haley:   Current SFAC competition team member, former SFAC East Coast Allstar competitive cheerleader and current High School Varsity Cheerleader.

Mrs. Bobbi and Mr. Perry
Karate

Ms Bobbi Hilton  1st degree Black Belt in the Karate style of Chun Kuk Do.
Founded by Chuck Norris. Instructor for Lil' Dragrons Program and also certified by RAD (Rape Aggression
Defense) to teach self defense for women which she teaches at battered women's shelters.

Mr Perry Stegall is Advanced Red belt in the style of Chun Kuk Do, going for his Black Belt in the spring.
Assistant Instructor for karate, grappling and self defense.

Mrs. Britany, the founder and former owner at
Monroe Karate (
www.karate2.com) in Monroe, NC has been our primary karate instructor for 5 years.  Upon
the transfer of her husbands profession, Mrs. Britany relinquished her classes at both locations to her top
instructors in order to maintain the top notch program.
Mrs. Zapka
Substitute Instructor, Secretary & Marketing
Currently the PE Specialist at Sardis Elementary, Mrs. Zapka is National Board Certified and was chosen Teacher of the Year on
three separate occasions over her career.

Youngstown State University BA in Psychology and Physical Education (minors in Health and Coaching).  

1986 to present Union County Public School District.  She has taught at Unionville, Hemby Bridge, Fairview and New Salem
Elementary Schools as well as her current school, Sardis Elementary.  
Mrs. Katarina
Ballet/Pointe

Katarina is a graduate of The State Ballet Academy of Belgrade, Serbia. Subsequently, Ms. Katarina danced with Simionov
Ensemble and instructed classical ballet at three different Ballet Institutions in Belgrade.   She then spent several years in Italy
(Sicily) as ballet instructor, coreographer and dancer at Ballet schools of Ragusa, Comiso, Acate and Grammichele.  Upon return
to Belgrade (1997), Ms.Dimitrijevic opened her own dance school "KAYA". However, shortly after that, she took advantage of an
opportunity to return to Italy for college. There she took
a two-year course in Ballet Pedagogy at the University of High culture and Arts in the city of Rome working with Professors Zarko
Prebil, M.Parilla (former Prima Ballerina), Dora De Panfilis, Nicoleta Pizzariello...For two years of Roman curriculum, she held a
position of the assistant to Professor Ivan Goliandin in the Character dance Department.  While in school, she taught classical
and character dances at several Roman Dance Studios and also worked as a dancer.  In May of 2003 she immigrated to the
United States and in August of the same year obtained a position of an instructor for Classical Ballet with the Fort Wayne Ballet
Academy.  

In July 2005 her family moved to Charlotte, NC due to her husband's work. Where she is presently living and working in different
ballet studios. She is presently employed with the NC Dance Theatre, JMSD, Sports & Fine Arts Center and Matthews Ballet.

Coach Mandi
Cheer

Coach Mandi brings with her extensive experience.  She put on her first dance shoes at the age of three and picked-up her first set of
pom-poms at the age of eight.  Ever since, she has built an impressive Cheerleading background.  Coach Mandi naturally cheered
from elementary through high school as well as danced.  Unlike others, she cheered on Varsity all four years, and was named Captain
in both her Junior as well as Senior years.  University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth,  she was again named Captain in her Junior
and Senior years.  In 1999 and 2001, they were the NCA's National Champions!  

Currently, Coach Mandi happily is an Elementary School teacher.  She has been teaching for six years.  She is also a delegation
leader for a student ambassador program in which she travels with high school students in the summers to different areas around the
world.
 
Ms. Michelle
Cheer & Skill Based Tumbling

Currently a school teacher by day, Ms. Michelles has a very impressive resume

former Elite Competitive Gymnast through High School.  

10 years cheer coaching experience including Head Coach of the Sun Valley Junior Varsity 1993 National Champion
competitive cheer team.  

17 years of tap, jazz and ballet training with attendance of School of the Arts in Louisiana.
Mr. Ryan
Ryan has been dancing for the better part of his life.  He is trained in Cecchetti ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, acrobatics,
adagio, and contemporary.  He spent the majority of his time learning at one of the oldest dance schools in the nation, Fran
Sullivan School of Dance.  Having performed across the nation, Ryan has also taught master classes and workshops as far
away as Nevada.  He has found that he enjoys teaching as much as he does performing.


Mr. Ryan is currently enrolled in college and is pursuing a mathmatics degree.
 
Ms. Skyla
Ballet

A.R.A.D (Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance), trained at the Charlotte School of Ballet under Gay
Porter Speer and The Point Park Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA, as a scholarship student under the
direction of Roberto Munoz.  She has danced for the North Carolina Dance Theatre as an apprentice under
Salvatore Aiello and Jerry Kumery. Caldwell has also danced at the National Ballet of Cuba under Laura
Alonzo in Havana, Cuba, and is associated with the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Caldwell has also
danced with the Moving Poets Theater of Dance for the last eight years and is currently Ballet Mistress for
The Union County Youth Ballet in Monroe, NC.
Miss Danielle
Skill Based Tumbling, Cheerleading and Gymnastics
Miss Danielle is the assistant coach for the SFAC competition cheer teams.  She is a former competitive cheerleader and is
still an advanced level tumbler.  Miss Danielle coaches all levels of tumbling and beginner gymnastics.

Mrs. Cheryl
Gymnastics, Christian Yoga and Baton Assistant Coach

Mrs. Cheryl has taught Gymnastics and Baton at Sports and Fine Arts Center since 2000.  Cheryl is a certified yoga instructor.

Mrs. Cheryl was a member of the Gymnastics team at Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, PA for 4 years and a Majorette for 3
years.

Mrs. Cheryl currently works full-time in Childcare and was Union County's Preschool Teacher of the Year in 2000.
Mrs Valarie, Innovative Ideas of NC
Accounts
Valarie is the owner of Innovative Idas of NC with an A.A.S. Degree in Business Administration from Alamance Community
College.  She has worked administratively for AT&T, TransGlobal Communications and DuPont.

Valarie is no stranger to SFAC being a former competition dance team mom/volunteer and mother to Stephanie who danced
and twirled at SFAC since the inception. (see alumni page)
